General information on Phuket

Phuket, "the pearl of the South", in the Andaman Sea, is Thailand's largest and best known island.
It covers an area of 540 square kilometers approximately, the same size as Singapore.
You can travel to the island by air, land and sea. There is a international airport and harbor. It is the ideal place for a relaxed holiday with an asian flair and is well used as a stopover by world travelers.
The richness of the island has it's origin in the occurrence of tin and the cultivation of Kautschuk. It is located in a traditional
trading channel between China and India and sea fairing nations such as Portugal, France, England and Holland used it often.
Phuket has marvelous and sometimes incredible long beaches with fine white sand and Palm trees. The vegetation is lush and varied.
You can find original untouched and protected rainforest in which you can go for long walks.
 
                                                                            
 
 
The infrastructure of shops, hotels and restaurants offers countless opportunities and is close to Western standards.
In clearly defined areas there is abundant nightlife to explore, while only a few kilometers away deserted beaches with calm waters await. 

 

                                                        
 
 
Phuket-Town, now Phuket-City,  is the island capital with much flair and good value for money. The town is picturesque with
colonial style trading houses built in the 19th century. It is renowned for it's shopping and is a must for any stay on Phuket.

 

                                                   
 
The most famous beaches on Phuket are: Patong Beach, Kamala, Nai Yang Beach, Kata and Karon.
Patong Beach  
This is the most developed beach on Phuket with countless leisuretime possibilities like shopping, diving, swimming, snorkeling, wind surfing and of course sunbathing. The numerous restaurants have something for everyone and the bars are specially recommended for all you night owls! For entertainment it is simply the best on Phuket.
 
 
Kamala  
Is a quit fishing village where tourism is an unknown word. For those who most want to enjoy a quit and relaxed holiday, this is the place for you. Patong is approx 10 minutes drive over the hill so if it's too quit the hustle and bustle is not far away. Diving, swimming and snorkeling are highly recommended here.
 
 
Nai Yang Beach
Is part of the Sirinath National Parks. The quit surroundings invite you to relax, dive, swim and snorkel at your leisure.
 
 
Kata und Karon Beach.
Both beaches are located in the south of Phuket. They are long and relatively quit making them ideal for swimming, sailing, windsurfing and sunbathing.
 
 
 
What does the underwater world have to offer!
An abundance of hard and soft coral, Anemone fish, seahorses, schools of Barakuda, manta rays, reef sharks,
stingrays and with luck whale sharks and more !!!
