Kamala is booming. This once small fishing village is becoming one with the southern beaches of Karon and Kata as

more new hotels go up (the number of beds has doubled in the last 2 years). However, the atmosphere is still pleasant as

the beach is "Girl-bar" free. The large hotel chains have discovered this beautiful holiday spot and have plans to build up

more resort facilities. The price for good rooms increased previously but will drop with the increasing number of tourists.

 

Because of the relatively quiet night life Kamala is an attractive family holiday destination. The huge FantaSea Park is on

the main road but does not disturb the atmosphere. Because of it's proximity to Patong (approx 7km) the booking rate in

Kamala will increase. Unfortunately the city council has not yet made part of Rimhad Rd. for pedestrians only. This would

benefit both tourists and local businesses alike.
